Showstopper! The Improvised Musical

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical – Top class improv comedy

You turn up at the venue with no idea what musical you’re going to see. It could be Mary Poppins performed in the style of Stephen Sondheim in a train station, or Phantom of the Opera with show tunes rendered in the style of Shakespeare. It’s entirely up to you – in this show, the audience is boss. It made Olivier history, the first improvised production to win in the awards’ forty year history, it has impeccable Edinburgh fringe credentials, and it’s also the winner of a Chortle Award for the best character, improv or sketch act.

Created in 2008 by a crack team of comedy heroes, it has made waves in the West End and promises to keep going for years to come. A rotating cast keeps things even fresher. Originally created by Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery, and backed by Keith Strachan, the rotating cast includes Meggido and Emery themselves along with Jonathan Ainscough, Ruth Bratt, Justin Brett, Matt Cavendish, Pippa Evans, Susan Harrison, Joshua C. Jackson, Ali James, Sean McCann, Philip Pellew, Andrew Pugsley, Lauren Shearing, Lucy Trodd, Heather Urquhart, and Sarah-Louise Young. Get your laughing equipment in good working order and make your way to theatreland!

Enjoyed, but theatre references too highbrow or left field to be family or mature audience friendly - I enjoyed it but my friends did nit understand reference to Ivor Novell, big fis, mincemeat, Jonathan Larson ?????
Very checks I enjoyed but not for wide range - mire fire ginger theatre goers drama students

Passed the time of day.
Have seen this at the Edinburgh fringe, main reason for coming but not as good. Story line seemed rehearsed if not the singing. The story "chosen" was the post office, all the actors just happened to be wearing red clothing! Disappointing.

Great fun
Totally enjoyable nigh watching great talented actors improvising a musical in front of my eyes. It end up being 20plus musicals in one. Definitely a great play !

What an impressive and amazing show
I was so impressed with this show. The cast is just amazing, from the singers, to the musicians and the mc. All is fluid, this seems to be writen, whereas it's impro.
